About the Edible Kitchen

The Edible Teaching Kitchen is an inviting, home-style kitchen environment for all of our seasonal cooking classes which teach students how to prepare and enjoy meals using ingredients from our own gardens and from local farmers' markets and grocers. Students as young as kindergarten participate in Food ABC's classes in which they sample a variety of fresh food as they learn each letter of the alphabet. All grade levels have cooking integrated into their Edible Schoolyard experience, whether through social studies, science, language arts, or math-based lessons.

The Edible Teaching Kitchen is located directly next to the new cafeteria kitchen in the heart of the school, just a few steps from the main entrance. The kitchen (see attached schematic) is divided into three hands-on work stations. Each area has its own sink and cupboard, stovetop, and prep/dining table with stools.
